Why is it important to teach kids about organic lifestyle?

When you teach the next generation about the organic lifestyle, they will take it forward for another 60 years. That’s the best way to save the world and also ensure the next-gen is healthy.

As we all know, what you learn as kids stay with you. Be it languages or practices or habits. When we try to make changes as adults, it becomes tedious because we are used to a particular lifestyle or product. The transition may not be smooth or may not happen too. Today, many people are trying to shift to an organic lifestyle. That’s why it is important to make kids understand the importance of an organic lifestyle so that it becomes a part of their lives from a young age.

Children are more susceptible to harmful chemicals. And harmful chemicals are there everywhere, on food, on clothes, on the plants, which make it all the more important to impart knowledge on organic products, organic farming, the environment, and global warming. As organic products have safe amounts of chemicals or no chemicals, it is safe for children, especially. Their skin is sensitive and their immunity is just building. An organic lifestyle makes them healthy.

It is important for parents to teach about organic lifestyle because it is highly beneficial for them and the environment. It is not just the benefits but also the approach and appreciation towards nature that makes kids understand and be nicer to the environment.

According to the U.S. Families’ Organic Attitudes & Beliefs 2014 Tracking Study, in a survey where more than 1,200 households participated in the United States with at least one child under 18, it was found that  eight out of ten American families have bought organic products one or more times in the past two years.

It was also revealed that parents who are purchasing baby food are even more conscious and are committed to organic; more than a third of those parents say they always choose organic for their infant or toddler. Meanwhile, 74 percent of daycares throughout the country now offer organic options for the children they serve.

How to make kids understand it?

Bring a change in attitude with knowledge:

There’s a larger impact when they comprehend the benefits and uniqueness of an Organic lifestyle. You have to make them inculcate certain habits. You can call it a win or success when you change the attitude of your child towards organicity. An organic lifestyle is a holistic approach that empowers equality, agriculture, nature, and farmers. From a young age, your child will learn about fair trade. You may have to make them using simpler words. These attitudinal and behavioral aspects make your child a better person.

Make them responsible:

You have to be simple with words. You have to convey that everything natural may not be organic, but every organic product is natural. Tell them stories and teach them the significance of nature. Let them spend more time with nature. As a family, respect the natural environment and indulge in activities like planting. Children love plants and animals. To make it fun, you can also make the paint pots. You may use paints that are safe for kids. and You can nurture one and name it so that there’s a personal touch to it. When the plant grows, you can tell them about chemicals used and how it spoils the quality of the sand. Show then how food is grown and harvested. Tell them how long it takes for plants or vegetables or fruits to grow. This makes them a responsible child, and they may even think twice before wasting food.

To teach them natural and unnatural processes, take them to farms and let them play with animals. Show them how lovable they are. Of course, you can’t be gory, so don’t show them unnatural things like injecting animals with antibodies for more production. You can subtly talk about it or tell them how you can’t hurt animals.

Organic Shopping with them.

When you go shopping to buy clothes, take them to an organic place. There are so many brands like Tiny Twig, Finn and Emma, etc. who offer great Organic Clothing. It would be best if you told them what the difference between regular and organic clothing is. However, with Organic Clothing, action speaks louder as once they start using it; they are bound to fall in love with it. When you go for grocery shopping, take them to the organic aisle, and also tell them why you are doing so.

Be an inspiration to them.

Parents inspire kids and influence them to a great extent. When you follow an organic lifestyle and make healthier choices, it will reflect greatly on your child. In the development stage, there’s so much that you can do to make them inculcate good behaviour and attitude, which is as important as going to school and getting educated.

Get friends along.

Kids will be a lot more interested when their friends also accompany them. It can be a fun experience and a life lesson for all of them. This will keep them motivated, get more ideas, and also be more creative. Over time, kids will become passionate about nature and ecology.

Associate yourself with brands that have a higher social purpose and strong principles. Always look for new and creative things that are organic to spend more quality time with your children. This is also a great way to make them involved in outdoor activities while you improve their knowledge about the environment. We don’t want kids to say milk comes from the fridge. We need kids to interact with the outer world and work towards sustainability. Start young. Start now! Fill their childhood with real experiences rather than the device-oriented ones.

Lead the way! You will see how an organic lifestyle can impact kids. As a parent, you prioritize your children’s wellness and development. By enforcing healthier lifestyles, they will have a healthy life with good immunity.
